Further, CEO Wang suggested that a smartwatch from Xiaomi exists and will launch with the new Mi Band. Some of the features tipped for the smartwatch include a large screen and health-related functions. No details about the specifications or pricing of the smartwatch are known as of now.
Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi last year claimed to have shipped over 10 million Mi Band wearables in the first nine months (January to September) of 2015. Earlier this year, at the Mi Ecosystem launch, it revealed Huami had sold 18.5 million bands till date.
A new report out of China has claimed that Xiaomi may reveal its first smartwatch alongside the next-generation Mi Band in Q2 2016.
The new details come from Huami Technology's CEO Wang, a Mi Ecosystem partner that had made the Mi Band wearable. According to the initial details, Huami Technology is said to manufacture both the devices and will be revealed in next two months.
The above leak should be taken with a pinch of salt as Xiaomi has not mentioned anything about the upcoming devices and the leaks legitimacy remains questionable.
On the next-generation Mi Band, the Chinese report (first picked up by Gizmo China) says that it will reduce wearable's dependence on the connected smartphone and will sport a small display. If this comes out to be true, the new Mi Band might be the first wearable from Xiaomi featuring a display.
